Event professionals: out and about

At Bien Venue, it’s important to us to keep up to date with all the latest developments in the meetings and events industry. So, we send our team of event professionals out to see venues, meet suppliers and sample experiences first-hand. We’ve been busy over the past few months, so we thought we’d share what we’ve been up to in the first edition of ‘out and about’.

The Conference and Hospitality Show 2019

Celebrating it’s 10th year, the Conference and Hospitality Show was back and better than ever this April! Venue Consultants Kim and Jenna had lots of fun meeting suppliers and even got some great caricatures done.

Meanwhile, our Director, Sam Elliott, was lucky enough to win a ‘golden ticket’ with a prize courtesy of P&O Ferries!

Family Day at Centre Parcs Sherwood Forest

Back in May, Cath Sloan and Chelsea Mould, from our finance team attended a family day at Centre Parcs Sherwood forest. They had so much to say about it that there’s a whole blog you can read here!

The CHS Awards

As some of you will know, our Director, Sam, was a judge on the panel for this year’s CHS Awards; always a highlight of the industry’s calendar. The event celebrates event professionals, venues and suppliers alike, so our Senior Management Team – Sam, Kerry and Zoe – were very happy to be there on 6th June to cheer on the nominees and winners!

Retro Fest!

In June, our Venue Consultant Kimberley Money spent a weekend at Retro Fest, along with her partner and their dog! Held at Newark Showground, the festival was a celebration of all things ‘retro’, with classic vehicles, live bands, a Lancaster bomber flyover and even a burlesque show. Kimberley’s party were guests of Trident Hospitality and stayed overnight in cosy glamping tepees. Despite the rain, a good time was had by all!

NACFB Commercial Finance Expo

Our Business Development Manager, Daniel Rankine, attended the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers’s annual Exhibition in mid-June.

Delegates gather for the NACFB Commercial Finance Expo at Birmingham NEC

“This was the Expo’s tenth birthday.” says Daniel. “There were 138 exhibitors in attendance so it was a really dynamic, lively financial event. Indeed, there was loads going on, including industry updates from the association, Meet the Expert seminars and a range of exhibition stands that provided fun virtual reality experiences and games.”

Hard Rock Cafe

Venue Consultants Kimberley and Rob were off to the Hard Rock Cafe for the evening late in June. They had loads of fun too!

“The food and atmosphere were great, I’d definitely recommend for office Christmas parties, though I think it’ll book up!” says Kimberley.

Marriot Expo at Manchester Hall

On 20th June Venue Consultant Miriam Stirnimann attended an event hosted by Marriott Hotels at Manchester Hall. Miriam is a new addition to the Bien Venue team so being a “Manchester newbie”, as she puts it, this even gave her a great opportunity to familiarise herself with Marriott’s impressive North West portfolio.

“A definite highlight was a ‘throw rings over prosecco bottles’ game organised by AC Marriott Salford Quays!” says Miriam. She was also very impressed with Manchester Hall itself; “it’s a stunning venue!”.

SME Club at B Works

Often out and about, Daniel also attended the SME Club last month. This networking event organised by Pro-Manchester took place in the heart of the city at the impressive B Works on Market Street.

“I was particularly impressed by the story behind the food and the inspiring stuff being done by Open Kitchen MCR. They are a social enterprise specialising in waste-food catering. It’s a really good cause, good food and very much on trend for clients looking at their sustainability or Corporate Social Responsibility at their meetings/events.”

A trip to Liverpool Arena and Convention Centre (ACC)

Bien Venue Director, Sam Elliott, also enjoyed a night away in Liverpool at the end of June. She stayed at The Pullman Hotel, toured the ACC, and saw some city highlights too.

“It’s a great all-around 4-star hotel, with a really convenient location in the city, 20 minute’s walk from the main train station and about 30 minutes from Liverpool airport and 1 hour from Manchester Airport. It’s also just a short walk from the ACC, which in itself is an amazing large event space.”
