It may not feel like it right now, but summer is well and truly here for the UK. This is often a time of year that businesses like to treat their employees to a summer party or team building away day. Here at Bien Venue, we’re experts in managing events like this, so we thought we’d share some inspiration and ideas with you!
Capture the Flag in a scenic setting
There’s nothing like a bit of country air and friendly competition to refresh your team. Our Venue Consultant, Jenna Statham recommends a night away in the Lake District followed by a game of capture the flag that ends in a posh picnic with a view!
“The trick is to organise a team challenge that is gently competitive and suitable for a wide range of abilities.” says Venue Consultant Jenna Statham. “In this particular activity, each group is given a map with the end goal of navigating up Brant Fell, but with loads of tasks to complete along the way. Eventually the teams meet for a picnic in the scenic fell setting.”
Have a watersports away day
There are centres across the UK that specialise in water-based pursuits and are great for team-building activities; whether that’s a beginners’ sailing course or canoeing down a river. If you’re in Wales, Surf Snowdonia is a great option, with its 300-metre artificial surf lagoon and heated camping pods to spend the night in if you wish.
“If you’re in the East of England, I’d recommend a trip to Wyboston Lakes, where the Ride @ Wyboston Lakes have all kinds of great activities such as a giant inflatable obstacle course on the water! Very excitingly, they have just introduced JetLev – water-based jet packs! This would be a great incentive prize or just as a part of your group’s fun on the water!”
Darts, but not as you know it…
Don’t trust the British weather, even in the height of summer? Why not head into the city for an indoor activity that gets a competitive spirit going; ‘Social Darts’. Yes, you read that correctly, but your vision of a darts club probably isn’t what we had in mind!
At The Flight Club, which has venues in both London and Manchester, your team can choose from five, fast-paced dart games that use the last technology, bringing the game into the 21st century! With different throwing lines, the odds are evened out, so even total beginners have a chance to win. While all this is going on, food and drinks can be served to the playing area.
It’s a really innovative concept, but not too complex. The Manchester bar are launching a team-building package soon too. Would make a great away day activity, or an evening social with an overnight in Manchester.
These are just three ideas for summer away days, we hope they give you some inspiration! Want help arrange everything? Give us a call on 01625 877776, we’d be happy to help!
