With a world-class conference infrastructure and extensive accommodation options, Sydney is the perfect host for corporate events.
As the capital city of the State of New South Wales (NSW), Sydney has a dynamic business environment. NSW has Australia’s largest and most diverse State economy, with the lion’s share of finance and insurance, property and business services, communications and manufacturing.
Getting to Sydney couldn’t be easier. Kingsford Smith Airport, located in Mascot, is the gateway to Australia for international and domestic visitors. The airport is located 10km south of Sydney’s central business district and is easily accessible by car, taxi, bus or train. It’s only 20 minutes by car or taxi and just four stops from Sydney’s Central train station.
Getting around Sydney is pretty easy too, as the city is served by a comprehensive public transport network, ranging from buses and trains to light rail and ferries. Water taxi is a unique mode of transport in Sydney, providing great flexibility, with jetties all around the harbour.
Besides the ease of doing business here, Sydney boosts a vibrant and cosmopolitan culture, offering a great quality of life. Leisure pursuits range from the active (sailing, swimming, bushwalking etc) to the cultural (theatre, music, movies, galleries and festivals), all located in or close to the heart of the city.
Its year-round temperate climate makes Sydney a great walking city to experience the sights and the vibe.
Venues
There are venues in Sydney to suit groups of all sizes. Venues suitable for 800+ delegates include Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre and Sydney Town Hall. Team building or training sessions for about 50 people can be held at Darling Island Wharf or Dockside Group, whereas small meetings of 10 or so are catered for by venues such as Ivy and The University of Sydney The Venue Collection.
If you need a venue that’s ‘outside the box’ you could consider Belgenny Farm, which offers a truly contemporary Australian experience and is just 1 hour from Sydney.
Social Programmes
Any social programme for business visitors should include some of Sydney’s ‘must see’ attractions. Those with a head for heights can enjoy the spectacular Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb, available both by day and night. At a lower level, a variety of boat trips around the harbour are on offer from Captain Cook Cruises including private charters. For a dose of culture, book a show in the world famous concert hall of the Sydney Opera House. An afternoon outing might include a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Arts or Sydney Wildlife World.
Dining
Sydney’s fine dining institutions rival Michelin-starred venues across the globe. Our recommendations include Quay at The Rocks, and Tetsuya’s in the city centre.
For a private dinner for 10 or so people, we have several suggestions in the Darling Harbour area. Try out Kobe Jones or, for something a little more special, L’Aqua, or the more unusual Signorelli Gastronomia. For somewhere unusual for 50 people we suggest Sydney Tower Restaurant with its uninterrupted revolving views of the city, fascinating by both day and night. Alternatively, catch a ferry to Fort Denison in Sydney Harbour for a unique dining experience that you won’t forget.
Hotels
One hotel that could be said to offer the ‘complete package’ of excellence in accommodation, service, food and facilities is the Hilton Sydney. With its magnificent views, range of rooms and dining options, its convenient location in the heart of the city makes it hard to beat.
